I
really love a wedding. I really really do.
I
love the romance, the excitement, the optimism, the spectacle and the party. I
wish all the best to everyone who marries.
That
said, here are my new rules:
If
it is your second or third wedding and I was there for the first, or the second
wedding don’t invite me!
If
I was at your first or second wedding do not ask me for a gift/charity
contribution!
Didn’t
I give you a present for your last wedding, and your last wedding shower?
Am
I being too harsh?
Here
are the exceptions:
Your
spouse died.
You
have been divorced for over 20 years.
I
was not at any of your prior weddings.
What
about family and friends’ children on marriage number 2? I am sorry if the
first marriage turned out to be a starter marriage but the same rules apply:
good wishes, don’t ask me to attend or give a gift.
If
you are having just a party to celebrate your marriage with no gifts, I enjoy a
party as much as the next woman. If I am invited I will wish you all the best
in person or in a note if I cannot attend.
Do
you have rules for the wedding season?
