5 Things that are Not Invented Yet but Should Be

Where is my Jet Pack? What about my Flying Car? I always thought that by this date more mind-boggling things would be commonplace! Where are they?

Of course everyone would love to see a cure for cancer, the common cold and a painless way to live until you die. What I am talking about are the more shallow modern inventions that when I sat at the 1964 World’s Fair I believed anything was possible in the future.

1                     Self Regulated Thermostat
Why can’t I have an energy field around me that detects when I am having a hot flash and cools me down and then resumes a comfortable temperature?

2.  Entry Way Cleaners
Why isn’t there a throw rug that immediately cleans and dries anyone’s shoes and pant legs from any one who enters your house? This would also include paws and tails and whiskers on dogs and cats.

3. Dish Washers, Clothes Dryers, Clothes Washers that Complete the Entire Tasks
Why do I still have to put the dishes back into the cupboard, the clothes into the drawers or into the closet?

4.  A Self-Cleaning House
Why is there not a spray that I can use that sucks all the dust from every object in my home? Where is the devise that vacuums every carpet and washes every floor without my lifting a hand? Toilets, sinks, tubs, showers that all clean themselves without harmful chemicals?

5. A Robot Butler
Not necessarily an Artificial Intelligent being but just some robot who can do some chores around the house and answer the phone while making me coffee and cooking dinner. Is that too much to ask?

My husband hates the idea of a robot butler. He thinks it is just one more thing for him to program. He gets the heebie geebies about AI ever since ‘Hal’ in 2001 Space Odyssey.

What futuristic things are you still waiting for?
