I have Wedding Fatigue and Baby Bliss

For the last 7 years we have had a family member get married. Yes it is wonderful and I wouldn’t change a thing but for me they have all been destination weddings.
I am not talking about Hawaii or Italy but places like Lyme Connecticut, and Butte Montana. Not really vacation destinations!

I have a bad case of wedding fatigue and we still have a few more potentials to wed, but not this year.

This year we caught a break; no one is getting married. We can stay home all summer and all fall. We don’t have to spend a small fortune on airfare, clothes, hotels and gifts and, and, and!

To my dear unwed nieces and nephews, I say, thanks for giving me a year off. I may need a few more.

Let me just state it here: The next wedding I will be a guest. I am too tired and old to decorate 30 tables, arrange flowers for 10 bridesmaids or wrap bows around 150 chairs. Sorry.

If you want to elope I support your decision!

All the wedding participants in the last 7 years have had babies.
Here are the reasons I am more excited about them than weddings:

It is more fun buying baby presents and toddler presents than a dress for me for another wedding!

I am looking at toys from Melissa and Doug rather than dresses from Nordstroms.

I am considering onesies and ruffle socks rather than shoes that will adhere to my feet after a couple of dances.

I am having virtual tea parties and laughing at walking steps on Skype rather than having to travel several thousand miles for an evening.

Don’t get me wrong; I love a wedding. I love hearts full of hope and future.
I also love chubby cheeks and baby steps!
I mean look at some of their faces!

What about you, are you suffering wedding fatigue? Are you in baby bliss?
