I recently spent a week with my sister, and my niece and her
family. I am the great aunt to my nieces’ daughter; I am Tantie my sister is Bubbe.
We spent 24 hours with the 2½-year-old without her parents. It was heaven!
I brought tiaras for all of us and Bubbe furnished the
jewels and tutu for the little one. My niece and her family live in the UK.
This means the little one has an English accent. I have to say it is precious.
During our activities we needed to pick up some groceries
and the baby girl was napping in the car. We had to wake her up to go into the
store. Note to other grandparents: Enter a small upscale specialty market 10
minutes before they close with a crying adorable child and let the store give
you things to stop the crying! I call this picture, what happens in Venda’s
stays in Venda’s. Let me just say there was some imported Italian chocolate
involved in the soothing process.
As you can see Candy Land was played from 8 AM on throughout
the day and night.
I bought a deck of Go Fish cards. They have pictures of fish
and numbers so enough for a 2½ year old to match. It was her first card game
and with help from all adults she caught on quickly. She had just been to the
Boston aquarium so it was really perfect reinforcement.
During my vacation I was able to also see my other grand
nephews for a day each. ‘The boys’ are one year old and 7 months old. They are adorable.
I can’t wait until they are old enough to play Candy Land, Chutes and Ladders
and Go Fish with their Tantie and Bubbe!

This is adorable! I can only imagine how precious an English accent would be coming from the mouth of a toddler. Gah!
You clearly know how to pull off the "GRAND" thing. I'm sure those kiddos love you to pieces.
It's been a while since I've seen my grandsons (January), but I have a visit scheduled for June, when my third grandson makes his grand appearance, joining his two brothers.
Thank you for the smiles and warm heart. ♥
Thanks Lisa. They are just too much fun. Congratulations on the third boy!
So precious! I had little cousins living in England and their accent was to die for, so I know exactly what you mean.
Thanks Helene. I am putty!
What a great week! They are adorable.
I am so relieved kids still play these old games!
Thanks Lana! It was very fun.
You know Carol, they are still fun!
I remember loving 'candy land' because it reminded me of all the yummy candy I wanted when I was a kid. The game illustrations were 'eye candy' for me. LOL.
Notice:that was the only thing my addicted little heart picked up on.
Thanks Carol for going down memory lane with me. It is a simple but great game for the wee ones and yes the visuals are enticing!
