Mo's Milkshake Diet

Here’s a recent conversation between me and my friend Mo:
Mo, I am getting sick of drinking milk shakes.
Me, Are you kidding?
Mo, Even a good thing gets old day after day.
Me, Are you kidding me?
Mo, I’ve tried every flavor combination and I am getting bored.
Me, Are you kidding? Shut Up!

Many people believe in silver linings, things that are meant to be and fantasies will come true if you truly believe. I don’t but I do think we can have vicarious experiences, good and bad through friends and loved ones.

My good friend Mo had a horrendous 8 months with cancer and many complications. We have been friends for 30 years and she was so ill recently I feared the worst. Vicariously I felt her pain, her frustration, her fatigue, her nausea and her anguish. Luckily she has had a remarkable turnaround and I can vicariously feel her strength, her spark and her health return.

While Mo was in the depths of feeling poorly, we could not talk about food. Food had always been a focus of our conversations. A typical lunch and shopping day or lunch and hike or hike and lunch, was our m.o. for the last 30 years! Yes we talk about books, movies and current events but since we are both foodies wanting to try a new restaurant that one of us read about was of great importance.  It is surprising to me how difficult it was to try and leave out the subject of food from my conversation!

Over the past 8 months Mo lost a lot of weight. A thin woman to start, she didn’t have much weight to lose. To regain her strength she needs to eat lots of protein. At recommendation of her doctor she started drinking milk shakes every day. The Mo milk shake diet has been very successful. She gained 5 pounds in a month and she is registering clear of cancer. She also is no longer anemic!

What Mo went through was a trip to hell and back. The silver lining if there ever is one is consuming and encouraged to have a milk shake a day. I cannot have a milk shake every day without becoming a big fat beach ball but the vicarious thrill is almost just as satisfying. Who knows, maybe an ice cream milk shake is the fountain of youth? I really could be wrong and fantasies do come true!

Do you have vicarious thrills? Do you have conversation topics you can no longer discuss with a friend or family member?

assignment writing company education is a great endless treasure and no-one can snatch it from us and if we use the item, it will in no way end, in truth, it will raise and soon it will eventually double in the matter of use it.
