Spending Regrets, I've had a few

As I reach into the depths of my closet for a velvet skirt that has never fit well, I once again suffer remorse and regret over this purchase. How can a basic black velvet skirt not be appropriate for any fancy, festive, or somewhat fancy Holiday event? The answer is when it doesn’t look good and too much money was paid for it to go into the charity bin!

The black velvet skirt is a big regret of mine. Shoes are also at the top of my regret purchases. They look great in the store and really do not feel tight. After a few hours some shoes are akin to torture. Walk a mile in some shoes is corporal punishment!

Just a quick regret note here on dresses for weddings. I rarely have been able to wear them again. Either they are too fancy, not fancy enough, not the right season or have been hanging around so long they are out of fashion.

I love my purses but I have made some bad purchases in this category too. Too small, too big, too many zippers or too heavy are all reasons they get thrown onto the regret pile and go into the charity bin.

What about the regrets when you didn’t buy? I know I have passed up great end of season sales because it was ‘End of Season’ and of course had regrets when that season did roll around!

Recently AARP had a list of spending regrets. Yes I am quoting an article from AARP because I am that old.

     Time Shares
          First Generation Technology
     As seen on TV products
     Elaborate Weddings
     Extended Warranties
     Trendy Fashion
     Get Rich Quick Schemes
     Gym memberships and Exercise Equipment
     Pet Toys and Novelties
          Pre-paid Funerals

AARP lists some big-ticket items.  Their list makes me fell better about my spending regrets monetarily speaking. I am not in total agreement with every item on their list. Those sliding pads for furniture ‘As shown on TV’ really work!

What are your spending regrets?

Oh yes...I have had a number of these sorts of regrets too. I do love the thought of someone else enjoying the things I donate though!

Thanks Elin for commenting. I agree someone may really like the velvet skirt and look fabulous in it!
