I won a prize! I entered a contest not even knowing a prize was
attached and I won. The contest was to make up a tag line and I thought the
prize would be bragging rights, which I am doing right now. But wait there is
more! The prize beyond bragging rights, which I deserve because I won, is an
actual product from the company. A
fantastic adorable and functional skort from the great company Born Fit. http://shop.bornfit.com/sassyoxfordrunningskort.aspx
Lucky me except I am too old to wear a skirt, short, or even
skort that short! I am committed to aging gracefully, and a 14-inch length
skort is too short for my old pudgy legs in my quest to age gracefully by
dressing appropriately!
Aging gracefully is a blog topic for this month’s blog hop
from Generation Fabulous. The challenge of appropriate clothes for the
menopausal woman is paramount in the scheme of dress. We are conflicted by our
desire to be fashionable yet cool. Hot flashes can make the most modest of
individuals whip off a layer or two. The question then remains how to stay cool
and dress age appropriately with grace.
1. Talk with a good girl friend
A good friend your same age will tell you NO. She will tell
you just because you can fit into the same dress that some starlet wears does
not mean you should buy it.
2. Do not ask your husband or partner what they
think about your clothes
They aren’t going to fall into that trap. All they are going
to say and they have learned it over the years, you look great whether you
really do or not!
3. Wear underwear
Just because you are having hot flashes does not mean you
can forgo your underwear. Gravity happens but a supportive bra can be the lift
that can be readily bought. Go for a bra fitting and invest in a good bra.
4.
Wear
layers
If a hot flash happens you have a base layer that you can
strip to that is not your underwear!
5. Don’t wear hose
No socks no hose and open toe shoes year round if possible
will help with hot flashes. You will be surprised how much cooling can arise
from exposed toes.

I will buy cheap on everything I wear except bras. I'm convinced you can look great in anything if your bra fits correctly.
Of course you are right and I agree with you 100%!
I fully support the "wear a good bra" comment.
Thanks Karen, me too!
I might wear a skort at home for a workout. But probably not when my yoga pants work so well.
Good advice!
Thanks Joy, I know what you mean but I can't risk going down that slope because I have a 10X10 room full of pajamas and nightgowns that I could wear and never dress in real clothing again. It is a slippery slope I choose not to go down!
Hi Joy, if this is a topic you like to discuss regularly...please stop by my blog. We have great discussions with fashion bloggers over 40!! Would love to have you join us. And YES...well fitting bras are a must..have a professional fit...it is worth it!
LOL! I will never ever wear hose..I do not care how bad it looks. Yes, so important about the bra too!
Thanks for your comments. Hose out but what about Spanx?
Bras and underwear, I never go without! And I'm with you on the premise, just because it fits doesn't mean you should wear it.
You are a wise woman, Carpool Goddess!
A good bra might not make you look GOOD in something that isn't right for you - but a bad bra can ruin something that is.
Yes, underwear, layers, all good ideas. Skort, not so much.
And I have proved I am not a robot.
Thanks Beverly I know you are not a robot but Google Blogger questions everyone, sorry! I love your comments about the bra, so true>
I "support" the good bra recommendation, too. Tough to find ones that fit well and provide support without making you feel like you're in a harness.
Thanks Helene for your comments. The harness is not a good feel I agree!
No hose, for sure, and I would go barefoot all year, if I could. Doesn't work so well here in the Rocky Mountains. Great tips!
Lisa, I agree. If you can it is a perfect way to stay cool!
