Does Frank Sinatra’s song
ring in your ears after Happy Birthday is through? Every year do you think, “This is the year I will do________?” Have you
noticed yourself or your friends or partner saying things like ”In my next
life”?
Regrets, I have had a few too
but I want to say upfront that I have lived a great life and am living a great
life. I never wanted to be movie star or rock star famous or marry George
Clooney. I never wished to live forever in the South of France or skate in the
Olympics. While these are all great momentary fantasies, my regret is a more
singular possession.
Men are said when they buy
their sports car or Harley that they are going through their mid life crisis.
Women may relish a shoe shopping spree or a vacation or cruise to settle their
mid life restlessness. After the newness wears off the sports car or the Harley,
it is usually sold. The cruise, vacation or shopping spree is often accepted
into the yearly budget. So what about that nagging regret?
My biggest regret is an
indoor swimming pool. I don’t need a deep pool or a big pool but it must be
indoors and it must be mine. I will not share it with the neighbors or babies
so I won’t have to use many chemicals. I want the end of the pool building to
be able to open so when the weather is nice I can enjoy it while I swim. I
would heat the water to 80 degrees so there would never be that initial
cold-water chill. I would swim everyday!
I am not sure I will ever get
my pool. If I don’t, the scales of my life won’t be way off balance. I regret
not putting the pool in 15 years ago for long-term use. That is the practical
side of me, and this is a whim regret. I have my health so who’s to say I won’t
get another 20 years of enjoyment out of my pool, if I would put it in?
What is your nagging regret?
Is this the year?

Mine is an outdoor pool!!
I dream of it and put an omnistone patio instead... Was being practical.
Practicality, the bane of my existence too!
I love that Sinatra song... What's really ironic is that Sinatra came to dislike performing that song (My Way) as he aged. While I'd love a pool, I'd hate the upkeep.
I've actually had a bucket list since I was a teenager. Most of the original items have been checked off to be replaced by others. My goal is to never regret NOT acting or doing. Carpe Diem!
Good way to live Nicole, I agree!
